Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence
for the Creative Arts
The Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts at Austin Peay State University promotes a
variety of arts events on a continuing basis. The Center annually produces more than
100 events in art, music, theatre and creative writing, which feature faculty, student and
regionally and internationally acclaimed guest arts. Most events are offered free to
the public.
The Department of Speech, Communication and Theatre annually produces four mainstage
productions which cover a broad range of styles. There are also independent productions
throughout the year by the AP Improv Troupe, along with the Center Stage summer professional
work-study production in June.

Roxy Regional Theatre
Roxy Community Theatre, Clarksville's oldest
professional theatre company, was established in 1983. Productions are staged in an
"art modern" 1940s landmark at Franklin and First streets. The Roxy presents 12
productions a year.

Back Lot Productions
Back Lot Productions was founded in 1996 by Reed and Emily Winters Bergen
along with Ginger Mulvey Beireis. All three have earned numerous credits in
community, educational and professional theatre.
They are a non-profit theatre that exists because of the generosity of our patrons.

Roxy Regional Theatre
Roxy Regional Acting classes 10 a.m. 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Roxy. Classes are
led by Roxy artistic director Joh McDonald. Ages 10 and older.

Clarksville Children's Theatre
Acting classes with the Clarksville Children's
Theatre are for children, teens and adults. the classes specialize in acting (on/off
stage), vocal training (stage and performance), set and scenic construction, dance.
They also specialize in audition techniques, interviews and impressing casting agents and
directors. Tuesdays after school. $5 per class. Registration required..
